Major Bridges, ROBís, Flyovers & Under Bridges

 The concept of bridge is to cross large spans of land or huge masses of water and to connect two far off points eventually reducing the distance between them. The bridge provides passage over the obstacle, a valley, road, body of water. The type and design of a bridge vary with the nature of terrain, its function and as per the location.

 Bridges are vivid elements in our physical and cultural landscape. They include steel truss bridges, and concrete bridges. They have historic value due to their age, their association with noted designers or manufacturers, advances in technology or materials, and their links to the growth of our communities and industries.

Industrialization of the country has induced a traffic growth of 8 to10%per year on many sections of National Highways and this growth trend is expected to continue for years to come. Many stretches of the National Highways are in deed of capacity augmentation by way of widening, grade separation, construction of Bypasses, Bridges and expressways etc. The traffic movement on National Highways is also hindered due to large no. of rail/road level crossings where road traffic is forced to stop due to frequent gate closers. To overcome this problem, a portion of CRF is earmarked especially for construction of railway over bridges (ROB’s). The improvement of National Highways under the various scheme s will provide better connectivity to all parts of the country besides faster movement of cargo, reduction in vehicle operating cost and reduction in fuel consumption.

From an Indian heavy haul perspective, we see the challenge is develop and improve the efficiency of the net work without burdening the owner of the infrastructure with an investment for which it can never make pay back or establish a reasonable return. As opposed to a capital solution – sending more to acquire more capacity – we see  the opportunity to operate both rolling stock and infrastructure as efficiency as possible to provide the best possible return before resorting to significant further investment.

The railroads focused industrial, commercial and residential development in the vicinity of rail lines and intersections. The next major shift in transportation occurred in the first decades of the 20th century when residents of the region obtained automobiles. Roads were improved and some were paved for the first time. Road construction and widening increased and accelerated dramatically when interstate highways opened up for high-speed travel. The automobile became an integral part of peoples' lives and the truck replaced rail cars as the principal carrier of freight.

The arrival of the interstate highways and express ways all over the country has necessitated the construction of high, long span bridges and also the engineering technologies on a scale not seen since the decades before. All of our historic bridges—whether made of wood, steel, stone, or concrete—collectively represent two centuries of changing technology, engineering and style. With the industrial revolution, steel which has a high tensile strength, replaced the old technology for the construction of large bridges to support the heavy moving loads.

The MBPL has imparted major roll in construction of major bridges and flyovers in the central region of the Country for highways as well as on railway tracks. Construction of major railway bridges on Lalitpur-Singrauli new B.G.rail project in U.P., Jamni river railway bridge, Dhasan river railway bridge near Chhatarpur in M.P., Major bridges between RMA- Jhalawar section at Bharatpur, Gangapur and Ramganjmandi in Rajasthan, Railway bridge at manendragarh (C.G.) are some examples of major bridges.

We have also executed various ROB’s such as flyover at Mayur Vihar link road at Noida (U.P.), ROB on Nagpur Howrah main railway line at Raipur (C.G.), ROB on Bhilai-Durg road at Durg (C.G.), 3 no. ROB’s on Mathura-Nagda Section in Rajasthan, ROB,s under Jaora-Nagda project with PNC in U.P.  under SECR between Surajpur-Ramanuj nagar section are some of the examples of the structures executed and successfully completed by us.
